"We loved the view from our eco friendly and very well appointed self contained place - we could see the sea and were surrounded by trees, flowering plants and birds. We liked being a short walk downhill to the village of Castara with grocery shops, places to eat local food and entertainment. Bars on the beach were very friendly. We loved getting a boat to nearby coves and snorkelling. Paradise for us!"

The fairly stiff walk back from the village is fine as long as you don't rush. The Castara Retreats Restaurant serves lovely fresh fish caught locally but wine as you might expect is eye wateringly expensive. Try Stag beer instead and even that is twice as expensive as in the village.

A bit of coordination initially to get to the property due to the road, but the owner was wonderful at making it easy, and other taxis had no problem getting there after my initial attempt.

"Tout était parfait. Nous sommes restés trois nuits. La chambre était confortable et spacieuse. Le petit déjeuner est de qualité. Il y a un immense choix. L’hôtel fait aussi restaurant pour le soir, c’est pratique. Le personnel était très gentil et efficace. Bonne localisation. Nous avons visité Bagdad à pied. Terrasse avec vue sur Tigre. Je recommande vivement."

The only downside was the lack of basic hygiene items like towels and soap. Overall, a great place to stay!

"Logement typique dans un quartier paisible et plutôt huppé. Appartement vaste, haut de plafond, sentiment d'espace, lumineux. Petite cuisine mais très bien équipée. Immeuble très calme. Écureuils sous les fenêtres: ça on adore!"

La literie a besoin d'être rénovée, elle est très inconfortable. La chasse d'eau des toilettes ne fonctionne pas normalement ce qui n'émeut pas les propriétaires à qui nous l'avions signalé, il y a en effet un "truc" pour qu'elle fonctionne mais vu le prix du logement c'est dérangeant... En synthèse, on note un certain manque d'entretien de fond (il manque un spot dans la salle de bain, le rideau de la chambre est abîmé...) ce genre de détails qui nuisent au confort et d'autant plus à ce prix.

"Excellent no complains great value for the price the nightly rates do not do justice to te quality clean spacious room full size kitchen and bathroom. If you are traveling on a budget I highly recommend this place. I'll be staying there next time. Very quiet also. AC also available and good quality WIFI."

Nothing to dislike about my stay.

On my last sleep of the week I was disturbed by the above resident, moving furniture and banging in the early hours of my departure day. Also just before 3am, being woken up by my TV having it on a different channel to what I had when I turned it off before going to bed believing someone had trespassed into the property and the thought of my belongings being stolen.

"Notre hôte Milady a été adorable ; elle a toujours été à notre disposition pour des conseils et recommandations. Il s’agit d’un endroit où l’on respecte la nature ; on a pu profiter de la compagnie de chiens et de petits oiseaux. C’est un endroit calme, à l’écart de l’agitation de l’île."

"Le logement était fonctionnel avec un lit très confortable. La situation du gîte était idéale. Notre Hôtesse Inga s'est avérée très sympathique, prévenante et aidante. C'est un point important pour la Géorgie qui utilise une langue insolite. Elle s'est occupée des transferts aéroports et Giorgi était un excellent chauffeur. Il y avait des produits pour le petit déjeuner ce qui était appréciable pour les lève-tôt puisque beaucoup de commerces ouvrent tard."

Manque le fameux miroir grossissant pour les presbytes (un sacré plus pour les dames !) Indépendamment du gîte, avis aux voyageurs de bien traverser aux passages piétons sinon PV assuré (surtout pour les touristes !)

A bit off the beaten path - we were aware of it and it didn't bother us, but be prepared for 1 km or so of dirt road until you get there.
